If you've never heard the Scapecast, a Farscape themed podcast from the hardcore 'scapers at scapecast.org, now would be a good time to check them out. The crew of the scapecast has scored an interview with none other than Aeryn Sun herself, Claudia Black. The interview is divided into two parts and can be heard in the 2 most recent episodes of their show. Claudia's interview is the latest of many to be featured on the scapecast including Ben Browder, Gigi Edgley, Paul Goddard, Raelee Hill and More.
The scapecast isn't just about interviews though. Each episode has trivia, a question of the week, convention news, season by season character reviews which discuss the progression of the characters through the story, and "Trelk Talk", a slightly goofy 'scape vocabulary lesson 'ala Sesame street.
In short, If you're one of the many fans who are hopelessly in love with the show, you owe it to yourself to check out The Scapecast.
I just stumbled onto a useful free website which provides not only an xhtml and css quick reference guide, but actually allows you to see live previews of the finished results. What you have is three windows. The first lists the various html tags, the second shows you the proper use of the tag which you can quickly copy&paste into your own documents. The third window shows an example of how the code will look in a web page. It's proven an invaluable resource for a lazy guy like myself.
If you were one of the unfortunate souls who shelled out their hard earned cash for Vivendi Universal's 2002 Farscape Game, Chances are you were as disappointed as I was. Aside from the authentic voices of the actors, there was little about the game that felt, or even looked like the farscape we'd grown to love. With the cancellation of the show after it's 4th season, gamers like myself had little hope of ever seeing a more satisfying video game adaption of the series.
Here we are, three years since the series wrapped up with "the peacekeeper wars" mini-series, and a French mod team is attempting to give us a much more satisfying farscape video game... for free.
A mod, or modification, is basically a piece of third party software which installs on top of an existing video game, changing graphics, sounds, and in some ways, the gameplay of the original title. When done well, what you end up with is essentially a completely different game.
In this case, any one who owns a copy of Valve's Half Life 2, will be able to download the Farscape HL2 mod from the team's Official website, for free.
Here's an idea of what the mod will be like, taken from the website.
Farscape HL² is based on the series and will be close to it. Most of the stories will be based on the series, but other ones will be made up in order not to give some "deja vu" to the fans.
It's hard to develop a game in fps (first person shooter) that don't turn out to be a classic one, when it's shooting then talking. The idea will be to adapt a game more in a "adventure way" on a fps. In that way, we descided to develop an experience system to make the game closer to the evolution that we can feel in the show, and to increase the adventure side of the project. In order to be still as closed to the series as possible, voices and sounds will come from the episodes. And if it's possible, some shorts videos will be part of the mod. The game will be very diversified : some different sentences will be prepared according to the mission played. This is an example of the different game mods which can be founded in Farscape HL² :
* Attack position * Defensive position * Escape * Shoot’em up * Réflexion * Others ...
Keep in mind that although English is not their native language, they do plan to release an english version of the mod.
I managed to score an interview with Yaka, the public relations manager for the team, and it went a little somethin' like this...
BC: So your presentation says that the mod will be based on the series. What timelime will the mod be set in? Will it go beyond where the series left off in "The Peacekeeper Wars?"
YAKA:You suppose right, this mod is based on the serie only neither front nor afterwards. We have make several chapter based on the importants moments of the serie.
BC: I see a helicopter and other Earth vehicles and weapons in your promo media. Is it safe to assume that part of the mod will take place on Earth?
YAKA:Yes it acts of few model for Earth part like episod 16 : " Human Reaction" where the army is very present
BC: Has there been any contact between your mod team and the cast or crew of Farscape?
YAKA:No, we don't want that they're informed for the MOD, they could want to close it. For the moment, of course ^^ .
BC: I see some rendered cutscenes in the trailer. Have you decided against using video clips from the show?
YAKA:We have think to use cutscenes for certain part, for scenes like the Aurora chair or the plays of actor would be impossible to imitate by the modding. But nothing is still completely fixed.
BC: Will there be any co-op mission in the multiplayer portion of the mod?
YAKA:For the moment, we work only on the single player adventure and the mod multiplayer isn't envisaged for the moment. But we will work it after.
BC: Any estimate of when the finished product will be available for download?
YAKA:HéHé, a demo is planned for soon but all depends on the fans and especially on the team.
Am I exited about this? Well... Is Rygel hungry? Judging by the preview pics I've seen, and the trailer below. I'd say this is going to be one hasmana of an experience. When you couple the imagery and story of Farscape, with Half-Life 2's Realistic physics engine and stunning graphic's capabilities. You'd have to try pretty hard to screw this one up.

Jon Favreau, Director of next year's Iron Man feature film, spoke during the marvel panel at this year's Comic-Con. In this clip he talks about the Iron Man armor we'll see in the movie, and the choices they made about how to bring the armor from the comic book universe into the realm of Hollywood cinema. From the way he's talking, I think they already have hopes of doing sequels in the future.
